In addition to the core skills of learning to dive, a diver needs to develop other skills that widen their experience and make them more competent in all aspects of diving. Others want to learn new techniques such as mixed gas and rebreather diving to enable them to visit deeper wrecks.
Examples of these skills that fall outside the core training for the core diving grades are:
- First Aid for Divers
- Oxygen Administration
- Compressor Operation
- Chartwork & Position Fixing
- Boat Handling
- Accelerated Decompression Procedures
- Mixed Gas Diving
- Marine Life Appreciation
- Search & Recovery
- and many many more!
We run many of these courses within the club as demands require.
BSAC also have a regular program of regional Skill Development Courses (SDC's) which all members are able to attend to develop their skills.
